Log hauled on freeway

A 500-year-old redwood was harvested from Pacific Lumber Co. land and hauled to McKinleyville, where Ernest Pierson carved the totem pole and erected in in 1962 for commemorate the opening of the McKinleyville Shopping Center, located in McKinleyville, Calif.

The photo above hangs on the wall of the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce and shows the log being hauled down U.S. Highway 101 by Harbor Lanes in Eureka, Calif. (Photographer unknown.)
